Die Rise Easter Egg Guide — High Maintenance, Maxis & Richtofen Sides (Black Ops 2 on PS5)

Overview

Die Rise stacks its zombies vertically across collapsed Shanghai skyscrapers, and its main quest — High Maintenance — continues the Maxis vs Richtofen war: the Victis crew must charge the second pylon for one of the two voices. Like TranZit, you choose one side per game.

Can you do the Die Rise easter egg solo? ❌ No. Both sides require 4 players — the very first step needs four symbols stood on simultaneously, and the PS5 version is a straight port. If you're solo, the map still offers the Sliquifier and one of BO2's best survival challenges, plus a solo-friendly musical easter egg.

Must be played on Original difficulty. Build both buildables: the Trample Steam and the Sliquifier.

Shared Steps (Both Sides)

Step 1: The Four Elevator Symbols

Four golden rings/symbols sit on top of four elevators (the Bowie Knife elevator reachable from the power room, the one near the Remington 870, and the two adjacent to the Trample Steam bench). All four players must stand on them at the same time. Richtofen mocks you / Maxis pleads — either way, the quest is live.

Step 2: The Floor Symbols in Order

Four gold symbols are on the floors around the map: by the M14, above the AK-74u, on the roof left of the Semtex, and past the SVU-AS near the cafeteria. They must be stepped on in a randomized order: step on one — if it lights up, it's first; keep testing until all four glow in sequence.

Step 3: Snipe the Dragon Orbs

Grab a sniper rifle from the Mystery Box and aim at the dragon statues' mouths on the rooftop — there's a small black orb in each. Shoot the orb out of both dragons' mouths. The orbs teleport to the lion statues' paws in the spawn building (next to the Olympia).

Richtofen Side

Step 4: Spin the Orbs with the Sliquifier

The player with the Sliquifier shoots the two orbs under the lions' paws — roughly 20 direct hits each — until both spin and Richtofen confirms.

Step 5: Trample Steams Toward the Tower

Each player places a Trample Steam on a zombie symbol around the map, oriented so it faces the radio tower on the roof. Then kill zombies by launching them with the Trample Steams — their energy flows to the tower.

Step 6: The Mahjong Tower Punch

Grab the Galvaknuckles (wall-buy in the shaft down to the Buddha room). At the radio tower, the four legs light up — punch the tower posts in the order shown by the Mahjong tiles found around the map (the order is randomized each game; the tiles indicate North, South, East, West). Correct order = a surge of blue electricity into the tower.

Maxis Side

Step 4: The Buddha Room Sacrifice

All four players head to the Buddha room (under spawn). Kill zombies there until Maxis says "enough" — then one player (canonically Russman) must be downed in the room and revived with the Ballistic Knife (get it from the box and leave it un-Pack-a-Punched for the revive shot).

Step 5: Fling the Orbs

Place Trample Steams on the lion tiles around the map, facing the tower, and place the dragon orbs onto the Trample Steams so they're flung toward the tower, passing the energy along.

Step 6: The Mahjong Tower Punch

Same as Richtofen's finale — Galvaknuckles, radio tower, punch the posts in the Mahjong tile order. Correct order = an orange surge for Maxis.

Reward

Whichever side you complete: the High Maintenance trophy and all six of Die Rise's perks for every player. The second tower now belongs to your chosen side — remember, your Maxis/Richtofen choice must match across TranZit, Die Rise and Buried to see that side's ending.

Musical Easter Egg — "We All Fall Down" (✅ Solo)

Interact with the three teddy bears hidden across the buildings (spawn skyscraper, the upside-down building, and near the AN-94 area). All three trigger We All Fall Down by Kevin Sherwood.

FAQ

Can High Maintenance be done with 2 or 3 players? No — step one needs four elevator symbols pressed simultaneously, one player each. Four is a hard requirement on both sides.

Which side is easier? Richtofen's — the Sliquifier grind is simpler than coordinating the Ballistic Knife sacrifice and orb flinging. But pick the side matching your TranZit choice.

Does the Ballistic Knife need to be upgraded? No — a regular Ballistic Knife revive works for the Maxis sacrifice step.

Tips

• Build the Sliquifier early regardless of side — it's the best crowd-clear weapon in BO2 and its parts are all in the power room area.
• Assign elevator symbols before the round starts moving; elevators shift with rounds and mistimed hops kill runs.
• Keep one un-upgraded Ballistic Knife in the team for Maxis' side.
• The Mahjong tiles are scattered near the tower and around the roof — photograph/note them before punching.
