TranZit Easter Egg Guide — Tower of Babble, Maxis & Richtofen Sides (Black Ops 2 on PS5)
Full Tower of Babble easter egg walkthrough for TranZit in Black Ops 2 Zombies on PS5 — both finales explained: the Maxis side (2+ players, power off, turbines and the Avogadro) and the Richtofen side (jet gun and EMP lampposts, with the advanced solo method).

Overview
TranZit (Green Run) is Black Ops 2's launch zombies experience — the bus, the fog, the denizens — and its main quest, Tower of Babble, introduces the choice that defines all of BO2 Zombies: side with Dr. Maxis or with Richtofen. Each side has its own steps and its own finale at the pylon; you can only do one side per game.
Can you do the TranZit easter egg solo?
- Maxis side: ❌ No — it needs two turbines placed at the same time, so 2+ players minimum (4 recommended).
- Richtofen side: ⚠️ Officially 2+ players, but a true solo method exists using denizen teleporters — covered below. You must be playing as Samuel Stuhlinger (the only character who hears Richtofen).
Must be played on Original difficulty.
Shared Setup
- Reach the Power Station (4th bus stop) and turn on the power.
- Build the Turbine at the Bus Depot (everyone should carry one for Maxis' side).
- Know the pylon: the giant electric tower in the cornfield between Town and the Power Station. Both finales happen there.
Maxis Side (Power OFF) — 2+ Players
Maxis speaks through electronics when the power is off.
- Turn the power on (Maxis needs the grid live once), then turn it back off at the Power Station.
- Each player grabs a Turbine and heads to the pylon in the cornfield.
- Place two Turbines under the pylon at the same time to feed it power. Maxis begins talking.
- Wait for (or trigger) the Avogadro — the electric man who spawns during thunderstorm rounds. Lure him under the pylon.
- When Maxis shouts "Finish him now!", kill the Avogadro with an EMP grenade while he's under the tower.
- Done right, the pylon glows orange — Maxis controls the tower.
Reward: the Tower of Babble trophy and Maxis' thanks. The turbines can be picked back up. This choice carries forward — the sides you complete across TranZit, Die Rise and Buried decide Buried's ending cutscene.
Richtofen Side (Power ON) — 2+ Players (Solo Possible)
Richtofen only speaks to Samuel Stuhlinger while the power is on.
Step 1: Build the Jet Gun
Assemble the Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 at the workbench in the Town bar. The four parts are scattered far apart (cave, tunnel, hunter's cabin, power station area) — the bus and the bank tunnels are your friends.
Step 2: Use the Jet Gun at the Pylon
Take the jet gun to the pylon and rev it at the tower until Richtofen confirms the energy has been channeled. (The jet gun overheats and breaks easily — repair it at the bench if needed.)
Step 3: EMP the Green Lampposts Simultaneously
Around the map are street lamps with green light (Bus Depot, Diner, Town, Power Station area). They must all be hit with EMP grenades at the same time (EMPs come from the Mystery Box).
- 4 players: one player per lamppost, throw on a countdown. Easiest method.
- 2 players: possible using the two special lampposts (the one across from the hunter's cabin and the one between the Power Station and cornfield) with at least three denizen teleporters already active under other lamps.
The Advanced Solo Method (⚠️ Hard)
A solo player as Stuhlinger can complete the EMP step alone:
- Activate denizen teleporters under at least three lampposts in advance (let a denizen latch on, walk to the lamp, it digs the portal).
- At the first special lamppost, throw an EMP, immediately jump through the teleporter, and throw the second EMP at the linked lamppost before the first wears off.
- Carry a Max Ammo timing or spare EMPs — you'll likely need several attempts.
When the step lands, the pylon glows blue — Richtofen controls the tower, and the trophy pops.
Musical Easter Egg — "Carrion" (✅ Solo)
Interact with the three teddy bears: on the bench in the Bus Depot, on the bed upstairs at the Farm, and in the Town bar. All three trigger Carrion by Kevin Sherwood.
FAQ
Which TranZit side can be done solo? Only Richtofen's side, via the denizen-teleporter EMP trick, and only as Samuel Stuhlinger. Maxis' side physically requires two turbines placed simultaneously.
Do I need the NavCard for the easter egg? No — the NavCard table is a separate meta-puzzle linking TranZit, Die Rise and Buried (each map's card is readable by a different map's table). Build it and grab the card anyway if you plan to do all three maps.
Does the side I pick matter? Yes — Maxis vs Richtofen must be completed consistently across TranZit, Die Rise and Buried to unlock that side's ending in Buried.
Tips
- Decide your side before touching the power for the session — the sides are mutually exclusive per game.
- Bank points in Town early; jet gun part runs through the fog are much safer with the Bowie knife for denizens.
- EMPs also disable perk machines and the box — mind your throws.
- For the solo attempt, farm Max Ammos and don't waste a single EMP before the step.
