Totenreich Is Live — Main Quest Solved
The map dropped April 30 with the Season 3 Reloaded update, and the main quest has been fully solved by the community. Full step list is below — I beat it solo myself, so I can confirm the published walkthroughs (Dexerto, GameRant, Detonated, Game8) line up with what actually works in-game.
A couple of pre-launch guesses turned out wrong. The wonder weapon is not the Todesstrahl — that was a bad datamine. It's the Jotunn Star, a Norse melee lantern. The boss is named Dravakar (one of the corrupted Shadowsmiths) — not Der Leere Wächter. Some pre-launch zone speculation actually held up though — Tyr is real (it's the giant Group 935 robot in Storm Bridge) and Fishery Island is a confirmed zone (it's where Juggernog and Pack-a-Punch live).
What is Totenreich?
Totenreich ("Reich of the Dead") is the round-based Zombies map for BO7 Season 3 Reloaded. The setting is Eidskallen, a Norwegian fishing town pulled into the Dark Aether after a Group 935 experiment. The town is frozen in time and absolutely soaked in Norse imagery — burial mounds, a stave church, a feasting hall, runes everywhere. Story-wise it picks up directly from Ashes of the Damned. The Ex-Requiem crew is back, Richtofen has a major role, and the in-fiction goal is to free Dravakar, the corrupted Frost Giant Shadowsmith, from the Warden's control.
Map Zones (Confirmed)
Named zones in Totenreich:
- Eidskallen Landing — the spawn area, ziplines lead from here to Beacon Island.
- Eidskallen Square
- Storm Bridge — home to Tyr, the giant Group 935 robot that towers over this zone.
- Skallen Market
- Titan Crane — in Dry Dock, with the docked ship.
- Burial Grounds
- Beacon Island — Flak Gun cannon overlooks spawn from here.
- Dry Dock
- Core Foundry
- Loven's Antiquities
- Blodheim Hall — feasting hall, central bonfire used in mid-quest.
- Fishery Island — Pack-a-Punch lands here.
- War Factory — Group 935 lab area, contains the Genetic Lab and a Riese robot head used in main quest.
- Eidskallen Stave Church — center altar drives the rune sequence step.
- Fjord Road
- Lighthouse — Jotunn Star pickup at the top, also where the Crowbar lives.
Confirmed Mechanics & Enemies
- Special enemy: the Necropincer — Draugr warrior spirit. Trident in the right hand for stab and throw, crab claw on the left for blocking and striking. Named HVT version: Ozkarron (spawns during the Dravakar Shard step).
- Special enemy: the Zursa — a zombified bear that runs on all fours and deals huge damage. Has parasitic Zombee insects burrowed into its body. If a Zursa attacks you, you get transported to a forest realm where only you and the Zursa exist — survive and beat it to get back. Named HVT version: Vornaketh (white Zursa, spawns during Jotunn Star build).
- Floating head mini-boss: Gjallafrost — appears between Dravakar boss phases, has to be killed with charged Jotunn Star shots into the mouth.
- Cold Snap (Frost) special rounds — happen roughly every 5 rounds. Temperature drops, vision is obscured, movement slows. Indoor areas shield you. The Jotunn Star's stored fire charges also keep you warm, which is a nice mechanical loop with the wonder weapon.
- Der Wunderfizz appears at Round 15 OR after you've bought 4 Perk-a-Colas from real perk machines (whichever comes first). Spawns at Beacon Island, accessible via ziplines from Eidskallen Landing once power is on.
- Frozen zipline near Double Tap Root Beer — thaw it by throwing a molotov or a charged Jotunn Star shot at it to enable use.
Pack-a-Punch Activation
- Restore power on Fishery Island — repair the damaged electrical lines around the zone (flip the power switches in Core Foundry and Skallen Market on the way).
- Reach Tyr's head — interact with the head of the giant Group 935 robot.
- Infiltrate the War Factory through the rift the head opens up.
- Retrieve the Glocke Drop Controller from inside the lab.
- Sync the Glocke back on Fishery Island.
- The Pack-a-Punch machine descends onto Fishery Island and stays operational for the rest of the match.
You can alternatively unlock PaP via the standard lockdown / elimination challenge route (similar to Paradox Junction), but the Glocke sequence is the canonical path and is required for the main quest regardless.
Wonder Weapon: The Jotunn Star (Full Build)
The Jotunn Star is a melee wonder weapon — an ancient Norse lantern hidden by the residents of Eidskallen from Group 935. It cleaves wide and runs on stored "flame charges" drained from kills.
What it does
- Lantern Swing — wide melee arc, drops big groups.
- Flame Charge — drains essence from kills, stores it, and keeps the wielder warm during Cold Snap.
- Flame Tendril — links charged lanterns with strung fire.
- Flame Strike — burn a charge for an explosive AoE fireball / charged ranged shot.
- 5-hit melee combo unleashes a heavier finisher with a spectral burst.
Build steps
Step 1 — Collect the three components:
- Chilly Chunks — back of a truck next to Deadshot Daiquiri in Storm Bridge.
- Chain Links — head to Titan Crane in Dry Dock. The button is in the room underneath the crane. Press it, then stand on the broken railing past the button and wait for the crane to drop. Wall-jump off the wall hooked to the crane, look toward the tip of the ship on the right, and interact to grab the chains. The crane only stays down for ~30 seconds before you need to press the button again — commit fast.
- Lantern — place the Chilly Chunks on the table in the center of Skallen Market, then wait for the next Frost Special Round (every ~5 rounds). During the round the named Zursa HVT (Vornaketh) spawns. Kill it — it drops the Lantern. Note: getting hit by a Zursa pulls you into the forest realm; you have to beat it there to get back, then collect the Lantern.
Step 2 — Get to the Burial Grounds shrine:
- Reach Burial Grounds and repair the door.
- Place the Lantern on the shrine. This triggers a lockdown event — survive it.
Step 3 — Constellation puzzle:
- After the lockdown, look at the constellation symbols on the shrine, then interact with the matching constellation panels on the wall.
- Order: Left → Right → Back → Front (looking at the shrine from the stairs).
- Done correctly, the ghost of Astrid appears above the shrine.
Step 4 — Follow Astrid to the Lighthouse:
- Follow Astrid as she moves across the map. Soul boxes spawn along the route — fill them by killing Frost Zombies near Astrid to keep her moving.
- After enough Frost Zombie kills, a series of floating pillars appears in Eidskallen Square, leading up toward the Lighthouse. Climb them.
- At the Lighthouse, continue up using the interior stairs and the exterior platforms.
- The Jotunn Star sits at the top of the lighthouse. Pick it up.
Main Quest — Full Walkthrough (Solved)
The Main Quest is fully solved. MrRoflWaffles, MrDalekJD, and Freckleston all completed it on launch weekend, the major sites (Dexerto, GameRant, Detonated, Game8) have published the full step list, and I beat it solo myself running this exact sequence.
Step 1 — Pack-a-Punch (above)
Step 2 — Build the Jotunn Star (above)
Step 3 — Crowbar → Flak Gun → Transmitter → Wunderbarrage Controller
- Pick up the Crowbar on the Lighthouse second floor.
Use it on sealed wooden crates scattered across the map. Locations: Core Foundry (downstairs), War Factory (northwest wall), Dry Dock (southwest corner), Fjord Road (south wall). The correct crate (it varies per match) contains the Flak Gun Round.
- Optional confirm: there's a Cargo Manifest in the War Factory Admin Room with a "Roboterteile ID" that points at the right crate this match.
- Load the round into the Flak Gun at Beacon Island (the cannon overlooking spawn) and fire it with a Jotunn Star charged shot, aimed at the Riese robot head at Eidskallen Landing.
- Collect the Transmitter from the cracked-open robot head.
- Place the Transmitter on the second-floor console inside Tyr's Head (left side, facing front).
- Count the blinking lights on the console — left side blinks N times = Amplitude N, right side blinks M times = Frequency M. You'll get two pairs across two rounds.
- Head to the frozen rope near Double Tap in Core Foundry and thaw it with a molotov or charged Jotunn Star shot. Climb to the array tower transmitter.
- Input the first amplitude/frequency pair using left stick (Amplitude) and right stick (Frequency). The next round, input the second pair.
- Collect the Wunderbarrage Controller from the table in the opposite room.
Step 4 — Three Uranium Pieces
Uranium 1 (Fishing Rod):
- Find the Fishing Rod at one of: Dry Dock, Storm Bridge, Fishery Island, or Beacon Island (Olaf's Cod Cranker barrel marks the active spot for the match).
- Equip the rod, find the glowing green fish in the water nearby, and catch it. This spawns an Irradiated Ravager — let it despawn this round, find it roaming next round, kill it, collect Uranium 1.
Uranium 2 (ARC-XD into the Genetic Lab):
- Pick up the free ARC-XD from the crate in Eidskallen Square (or craft one).
- Melee the metal vent on the Core Foundry northeast wall, top floor to open it.
- Drive the ARC-XD through, descend the stairs, boost across the ramp into the secret lab, and detonate next to the barrels blocking the door.
- Enter the Group 935 Genetic Lab on Fishery Island (left of Pack-a-Punch).
- In the south corridor, look for two numbers marked with radiation symbols. Convert them to letters (1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=E) and grab the matching head jars from around the lab. Place them on the south-wall machine.
- Use the purple gas canister on the north-wall corpse to obtain the Necrospike.
- Use the Necrospike on the cell door and complete the lockpicking minigame (rotate Right Stick until pins glow). Collect Uranium 2.
Uranium 3 (Glocke Drop):
- Trigger the Glocke Drop Scorestreak with a big horde present.
- Shoot 20 zombies in the air while they're suspended. Repeat until three green dots are filled. Collect Uranium 3.
Step 5 — Atomkraft Core Assembly
- Use the Wunderbarrage Controller on the debris pile southeast of Melee Macchiato (the 02 Building stairs in Dry Dock). This opens the Machine Workshop.
- Inside, use the claw machine to connect the three uranium canisters into the housing — keep the cursor in the green section of the dial.
- Grab the Atomkraft Core and walk it (no sprinting, no ziplines) to the crate next to Quick Revive at Eidskallen Landing.
- Enter Lief's Boat Repair behind the perk and activate the generator.
- Defend the core through several waves of zombies until the charging sequence completes. Pick up the Charged Atomkraft Core.
- Walk the charged core (again no sprinting) to the barrel at Storm Bridge facing Tyr, drop it. Tyr's giant robot wakes and fires the core into Dravakar.
Step 6 — Dravakar Shard, Disciple Injection, Sunstone
- After the cinematic, grab the Dravakar Shard from Tyr's Foot, northwest area.
- Place the Shard on the central bonfire in Blodheim Hall and light it with a charged Jotunn Star shot.
- Activate a Disciple Injection (free one is in the Eidskallen Stave Church).
- Grab zombies (LT/L2) and throw them onto the lit bonfire. Direct hits trigger a lockdown.
- Survive the lockdown, kill the HVT Necropincer (Ozkarron) that spawns. Collect the Sunstone.
Step 7 — Stave Church Rune Sequence
- Place the Sunstone on the central altar inside the Eidskallen Stave Church.
- Melee it with the Jotunn Star — a giant beam of light projects, displaying runes and three arrows.
- Each arrow has horizontal lines indicating order: 1 line = Arrow #1, 2 lines = #2, 3 lines = #3. Each arrow points at a unique rune symbol.
- Find the matching rune bonfires scattered across the map and light each with a charged Jotunn Star shot in the order Arrow #1 → #2 → #3. When all three arrows lock to the same direction, the step completes.
- Return to Tyr's Head and interact with the console to start the boss encounter.
Step 8 — Dravakar Boss Fight
Multi-phase arena fight against Dravakar, the corrupted Frost Giant Shadowsmith. Mechanics, in order:
- Phase 1 — Tyr the giant robot grapples with Dravakar. Avoid the giant; shoot the glowing red weak spots on Dravakar to chip his health. Manage adds.
- Phase 2 (Gjallafrost) — Dravakar retreats, a floating icy head Gjallafrost spawns. Charge a Jotunn Star shot and fire it into Gjallafrost's mouth when its eyes turn red — drops its immunity, then finish it with bullet weapons.
- Phase 3 — Dravakar returns, now lobbing meteors. Stick behind pillars and burst the red weak spots between volleys.
- Phase 4 — Two Gjallafrost heads at once. Same charged-lantern routine, just twice as much movement.
- Phase 5 — Three Gjallafrost heads. Ramp-up of phase 4.
- Final Phase — Arena seals shut. Dravakar's face becomes the weak spot while he barrages the arena with constant meteors. Move side-to-side or go prone to dodge. Burn him down.
After Dravakar drops, Tyr finishes him off and frees the Shadowsmith. Cinematic plays, EE complete.

Requirements: play as Richtofen, build the Jotunn Star, have Melee Macchiato purchased from Dry Dock.
- Round 15+: head to Core Foundry, find the meat barrel, R3 punch (Melee Macchiato) the top of the barrel while facing south to break the lid.
- Dig in the barrel to surface Richtofen's medal. Pick it up — you're teleported to the castle.
- Pick up the documents on the floor and proceed to the next room.
- Place the six 115 crystals and figurines on the scale to balance them. Cutscene with Von List plays.
- After Von List leaves, pick up the sword by the throne and place it on the statue without a sword.
- Interact with the radio on the shelf — Sherwood broadcast plays.
- Fight your way out with the MP-40 and reach the exit door to teleport back.
Community is still digging into hidden sub-steps inside this sequence.
"No One There" — Music Easter Egg
Three Mister Peeks headphones trigger the song:
- On boxes near PhD Flopper, in Dry Dock.
- Near Double Tap Root Beer, in Core Foundry.
- Bottom of a shelf, next to a plate, in Loven's Antiquities.
The song is "No One There" by Kevin Sherwood and Vicky Psarakis.
Power-Up Statues
There are 7 Power-Up statues scattered around the map. Shoot them to trigger the corresponding power-up. Once all 7 are activated, two additional statues appear (Fire Sale and Random Perk).
Confirmed locations so far:
- Bonus Points — outside Beacon Island, between two wooden walls.
- Insta-Kill — on a tombstone outside Burial Grounds.
- Nuke — behind the Riese robot head in War Factory.
- Full Power — in a boat window inside Dry Dock.
- Double Points — TBD
- Max Armor — TBD
- Max Ammo — TBD
- Fire Sale — TBD (only spawns after the other 7 are activated)
- Random Perk — TBD (only spawns after the other 7 are activated)
Will drop the missing ones as soon as they're confirmed.
Cursed Mode & Relics (New System)
Totenreich introduces a brand-new modifier system: Relics that you unlock through play, then equip as gameplay modifiers in Cursed mode. There are 6 Relics in total, split across three groups:
- Grim — fills 1/3 of the Cursed Tier bar each.
- Sinister — fills 2/3 of the bar each.
- Wicked — fills the entire bar each.
Mix and match them to hit the desired Tier:
| Tier | What unlocks | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Tier I | Golden Armor | 45,000 Essence |
| Tier II | Ultra Rarity | 8,000 Salvage (or 17,500 from default rarity) |
| Tier III | Pack-a-Punch Level IV | 100,000 Essence |
How to unlock the Relics
- The two Grim Relics unlock by reaching Round 20.
- The two Sinister Relics unlock by activating Cursed Mode Tier I.
- The two Wicked Relics unlock by activating Cursed Mode Tier II.
Individual Relic names and effects are still being uncovered — will fill those in once they're public.
Perk Machine Locations
All 10 perk machines and their zones (per GameRant's launch-day breakdown):
| Perk | Zone |
|---|---|
| Quick Revive | Eidskallen Landing |
| Stamin-Up | Eidskallen Square |
| Deadshot Daiquiri | Storm Bridge (next to Tyr the giant robot) |
| Mule Kick | Skallen Market |
| Melee Macchiato | Dry Dock |
| Speed Cola | Dry Dock |
| PhD Flopper | Dry Dock |
| Double Tap Root Beer | Core Foundry |
| Vulture Aid | Blodheim Hall |
| Juggernog | Fishery Island |
| Der Wunderfizz | Beacon Island — unlocks at Round 15 OR after 4 perk-machine purchases |
Dry Dock is the perk corner — three perk machines tucked together over there. Eidskallen Landing has Quick Revive on the spawn so you've always got that out of the gate.
Wall-Buys
Confirmed wall-buys (locations TBD):
- CODA 9
- Warden 308
Traps
- Flammenfalle — flame trap, Fjord Road.
Early Impressions
Map is great. The Norse aesthetic is doing serious work, the Jotunn Star is the most fun melee wonder weapon in years, and the Cold Snap mechanic actually changes how you play instead of just slapping a damage modifier on. Necropincers are a real threat — the trident throw catches people out and you have to chip the claw block before you can punish.
Now that I've actually beaten the EE solo, the main quest is everything I hoped — it's long (figure 4-5 hours your first run, ~2 hours once you know the route) and it leans hard on the Jotunn Star, the Glocke Drop, and the ARC-XD across multiple steps. Good payoff. Boss fight is mechanic-driven rather than sponge-y. Cursed Mode adds replay value past the EE which is a nice touch — the Tier III PaP Level IV unlock is going to keep people grinding.
Still TBD — Will Update
- Last 3 power-up statue locations + Fire Sale / Random Perk spawn points
- Aether Tool, Pack-a-Punch Crystal locations
- Individual Relic names and effects
- Wall-buy locations (CODA 9, Warden 308)
- Armor vest, arsenal, and crafting table spots
- Intel collectible locations (Audio Logs, Artifacts, Documents)
Bookmark the page — this'll get filled in as the community keeps mapping it out.
